Governing Body

Welcome to the Governors’ webpage; we hope it provides a clear insight into what our roles and responsibilities are and who we all are.

What is the responsibility of the Governors?

The Governors have responsibility for ensuring the good conduct and high standards of educational achievement in the school. They act in the best interests of the students and also act as a critical friend to the Principal.

The three main roles are:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

The different types of Governors

Foundation:

Are appointed by the Diocese and form the majority of the Governors of the school. They have a legal duty to preserve and develop the Catholic character of the school and to ensure the school is conducted in accordance with the Scheme of Delegation.

Staff:

Representatives of the staff community within the school. Also includes the Principal of the school.

Parent:

Nominated by parents of the students who attend the school.

Co-opted:

Appointed by the Governing Body who has the skills required to contribute to the effective governance and success of the school.

Trinity is currently in the process of appointing more Governors to its Local Governing Board.

In addition to his role as Head, Dominic serves on the IAPs Membership Committee. Dominic has been a Governor at Trinity since 2023.

Freya East - Foundation Governor

Freya was born a cradle Catholic but began to deep dive into the Catholic Faith in 2020. The Catholic standard of living is something she would love to share with everyone particularly with the youths and young adults. A former student at Trinity (2013-2018) she is able to reflect on her own experience as a student and willing to supply her own skills in helping the current students grow as individuals at Trinity.

Freya has an Extended Diploma in Forensic and Criminal Investigation and is part of a Christian Prison Fellowship group. She has knowledge of childcare and experience both as a babysitter and Teaching Assistant in a local Catholic Primary School which has developed her understanding of required safeguarding and education-related legislations that lead toward the efficiency of children's learning.

She believes the life and methods of St Don Bosco are an inspiring motivation to defend and preserve the dignity of children both in school and outside.
